November 19th is International Men's Health Day. One of the key areas that it focuses on is raising awareness of mental health in males and this so important as every single day we are losing one man every minute to suicide.
And, then there are the amount of people that are suffering in silence...letting anger, shame, depression, anxiety consume them inside.
If you are one of those people, I see you, I hear you...and there is help out there.
This episode explores my journey with depression and anxiety. In the episode, I talk about:
- Examination of societal taboos and unhelpful narratives regarding male mental health and masculinity.
- Personal experiences with depression and anxiety, and the importance of speaking about these struggles.
- Discussing the harmful effects of suppressing emotions.
- Choosing healthier coping mechanisms
- The importance of seeking help when dealing with mental health issues.
- The power of self-compassion and love as part of mental health recovery.
- Some ways to combat mental health challenges today even if you are not ready to talk.
